Celebrating Best Practice Guidelines and Clinical Leadership
Conference Overview
In recognition of the International Year of the Nurse 2010, the RNAO Centre for Professional Nursing Excellence announces….. Knowledge, the Power of Nursing: Celebrating Best Practice Guidelines and Clinical Leadership. This international conference spotlights clinical nursing excellence and evidence-based practice in all domains, sectors and areas of nursing.
The primary goal of this international commemorative conference is to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of clinical nursing excellence and evidence-based practice cultures to quality care, and global health outcomes.
The conference will provide opportunities to share and shape nursing practice as well as discuss best practice programs and processes that result in quality outcomes for clients, nurses, organizations, and systems. Conference participants will celebrate the successes and challenges of providing excellent clinical care and implementing, evaluating and sustaining evidence-based practice cultures.
This event will be of interest to nurses in all practice positions, including all specialty areas across the spectrum of care; education/knowledge transfer; administration; research and policy. Sessions will be streamed based specialties and functional areas in nursing as well as key aspects of developing evidence- based practice cultures.
Abstract Submission
Deadline: March 17, 2010, 3pm EST
Abstract submissions are invited in keeping with the focus on clinical nursing excellence and best practice guidelines under the following conference themes:
- Clinical leadership across the spectrum of care;
- Evidence-based clinical and management decision making practices;
- Knowledge transfer of evidence-based practices;
- Creating healthy work environments for clinical excellence;
- Building and sustaining evidence-based practice cultures;
- Clinical nursing research and outcomes evaluation.
Selection Process
A blind review and selection process will be conducted by the abstract review subcommittee of the Conference Planning Committee.
Submissions will be assessed for inclusion in one of the following formats:
- Concurrent paper presentation (30-minute oral presentation inclusive of question/answer)
- Extended paper presentation (90 minute oral presentation)
- Interactive poster presentation (5 minutes)
Posters will be displayed in a predominantly at the conference, with presenters having 5 minutes to formally present their work.
Selection Criteria
All abstracts must be submitted by March 17, 2010, 3pm EST. Selection criteria include: relevance to conference purpose; direct link to specified theme; clarity; and nature of the activity, strategy or innovation.
Abstract Acceptance Requirements
All communication will be with the primary contact for the abstract submitted. All abstracts must be submitted using this site. All submitted abstracts will be acknowledged via email to the primary contact upon receipt.
Selection will be completed and abstract authors will be notified via email by April 15, 2010. All successful authors must indicate their intent to participate and register for the conference by April 30, 2010 to be included in the conference program. RNAO does not pay conference registration, honourariums, travel costs or any other expenses for those whose abstract is accepted.
For concurrent paper presentations, only two authors will be included on the conference program, and unless otherwise indicated, the first two authors listed will be included in the conference program.
Continuing Education Credits
Based on feedback received from our local and international colleagues, the RNAO Centre for Professional Nursing Excellence is pleased to offer Continuing Education Credits as “contact hours” for international conferences. In this regard, the abstract submission process is aligned with the established criteria for such credits. Such ratings can be used by nurses registered in the United States and other jurisdictions to meet their continuing education nursing registration/license renewal requirements.
At the time of submission, abstract authors are required to complete CEC forms providing biographical data, presenter information (objectives, learning activities etc.) and a declaration form, in order for the abstract to be considered for inclusion in the program.
